Fall Capsule Favorites for 2021, from MyPetiteStyle

Talbots Plaid Turtleneck

Writing the post: Fall Capsule Favorites for 2021 from MyPetiteStyle has been on my MPS (aka MyPetiteStyle) to-do list. However, I have been so busy creating style portfolios and shoppable boards for other’s there has been no time!

We are practically into Winter, so this post is very late indeed! Fall is my favorite time of the year; you can feel the crispness in the evening air. The mornings are cool, but the days are still warm and beautiful!

Capsule Favorites for Fall 2021

My definition of a capsule wardrobe is a collection of clothing pieces that I group by season, and I typically start swapping out my summer pieces for long-sleeved tees and lightweight jackets in October.

It is a good idea to shop your closet for essential and capsule fall pieces and create a list of what is missing. Additionally, I suggest researching your favorite stores on the internet before heading out to shop. Shopping your closet and researching product availability is a big time saver, and I recommend it often to retail shoppers. Fall 2021

Fall Capsule Favorite for 2021Combat Boots

I have loved boots since I was a kid; yep, that’s me sleeping with my boots! While I am still crazy about boots, I no longer sleep with them!

The combat boot trend started last year, or at least that is when I spotted it. I was working as a holiday temp at Nordstrom at the time and noted the Doc Martin trend. However, it was a year later before I took a second look at combat boots.

Bare ankles do not work for me once the temps drop my feet and ankles get too cold. I began my hunt for some new boots, which prompted me to take a second look at combat boots. Working in retail, I am on my feet a lot, and I wanted boots that could handle wet weather without getting wrecked!

I tried the Doc Martins, and they were adorable – so cute! However, I found them pretty painful to wear. I returned the Doc Martins and did some more research. I eventually purchased a pair of very comfortable fur-lined combat boots from ECCO. These boots look fabulous and feel amazing. The only thing I don’t like about them is they turn my feet black! However, a good scrub easily solves that problem.

If you haven’t noticed, I pair these boots with almost everything in my closet, at least for Fall. They look super-cute with both the utility and the leopard print skirt.

I love wearing stylish clothes, but comfort is always my priority. I find dresses and skirts to be as comfortable. And easy to wear when paired with my new capsule favorite, the combat boot!

Layer it up for Cool Fall Mornings

It is tempting to throw on one of my cozy sweaters for the cool mornings; the problem is I am roasting by noon! I work in ladies retail and work up a real sweat running around. The best way to dress for cool mornings and warm afternoons is in lightweight layers.

The Crew-Neck Tee a Fall Capsule Favorite

There is nothing more classic than the crew-neck tee, and it makes a great layering piece. I love bright, bold colors and prints and layer them under sweaters and jackets. The accessories connect the pieces to create a pulled-together look rather than a thrown-together look!

Capsule High-Waisted Boot-cut cropped Denim

I love high-waisted denim, boot-cut, and cropped because it works with almost any shoe style. The cropped boot-cut is wide enough to float over the top of the boot and ends above the ankle. I purchased two pairs of high-waisted boot-cut cropped denim styles. One was a black from Ann Taylor in black and the other in a medium wash from the Banana Republic. I like the fit of both pants, and they are capsule pieces I plan to upcoming Winter season.

The Coated Denim Jacket a New Fall Capsule Favorite

The classic bomber jacket has been a staple in my closet for many years. However, the style of many bombers is not attractive for me because they accentuate my broad shoulders. I gave up on the coat’s style and researched possible replacements. I spotted the cropped coated denim in black on the White House Black Market’s website. I tried to keep an open mind but wasn’t completely sold on the idea of coated denim. The sizing runs small in this jacket; I had to return and reorder the jacket. I recommend sizing up for this denim jacket.

Fall Capsule Favorites Skirts; 2021

The cheetah skirt is from last year, and the utility wraps a clearance item from summer. I would not wear either of these skirts in the summer or without stockings. The sales lady I know well at the Banana Republic talked me into it. Although the saleslady did have good instincts, both work great with opaque stockings for the cooler weather. So glad I listened to my favorite sales lady at the Banana Republic; she knows her stuff!
